Morocco in Palm Springs

Marrakesh for an hour... of course I will find a rug store in the desert! Soukie Modern has original moroccan rugs and more. The owner was born in a Berber village in the mountains in Morocco and lives with his wife in Palm Springs CA. He told me Palm Springs is on the same latitude as Morocco and has a similar climate, so he likes it here a lot. We talked about nomadic tribes and American lifestyle. He's an exotic export (immigrant =)) like myself, so it's interesting to exchange experiences.

Mornings in Palm Springs...

Palm Springs CA

Palm Springs CA, 7-22-18.

I love the vibe of Palm Springs, the midcentury architecture, the art galleries and antiques shops, the diversity of food and laid back easy going atmosphere. It was bloody hot of course but I was happy to be back and we had a wonderful relaxed weekend with my husband. What a birthday treat!

Goodbye dirty thirty! Hello crazy forty! =)
Vintage store Yucca Valley CA, 7-22-18.

I made it! Finally 40. No big deal right? Well, I was always saying that age is just a number.  And it is but it is also a state of mind. As we age we face our own impermanence. We're not going to live for ever and we observe our bodies aging, decaying. I always wished I would accept aging with grace and gratitude because some people don't have the luxury to get older. But it's easier said then done and I had my own struggle a few weeks before my 40th birthday. Now that it's over I made peace with it, no turning back of course. I am inspired by older people who just don't care about age and do their thing anyway.
Let your inner child dance wild, dirty feet, crazy hair, raw emotions, embracing each moment just as it is. Not looking back or searching for the future. The present moment is the only moment where life happens.
I am full of gratitude for my life, it's perfectly imperfect as it is. I survived my past and everything unfolds as it should be bringing experiences that are meant to help us grow and evolve.
Crazy forty, I am ready!

Hello summer

After roughly 5 days of spring, here comes the summer for Easter. Hello desert life!
Beautiful blue sky and sunlight, 358 days a year ;-)!

back in the flow

After a series of shows, I need time for my body and (creative) mind to rest. After finally recovering from the flu, virus and infections, experienced 4 times in the past 4 months, time to get back in the studio. With no pressure of deadlines, commissions or shows. Experimenting and exploring.

Palm Springs CA, impressions

In Palm Springs there is design and art everywhere. Such an inspiring place that I discovered on a short 2 day trip. I love the 60ies design era and it is everywhere. I visited several galleries in the art district, talked to artists, took a yoga class, ate amazing vegetarian organic foods... I will be back!
