"Photography about photography may not be to everyone's taste, but it now has an established place in the art world, (...) then as long as you can justify the concept, practically any subject matter ist valid." Michael Freeman
I guess that the underlined text may also be applied to contemporary Art in general... You can make a hole in a wall and sell it as Art. Or hang a white piece of paper. Any kind of that bullshit. As long as you can justify the concept it will work.
I don't criticise the artists or this kind of Art in general. It is easier to reproduce something wellknown (like painting a tree) than to create something completely knew (like painting a white surface, digging a hole,..).
I just don't understand the ecstasy of the art intellectuals prentending to understand it. Writing and writing..."deconstructivist avant-garde sparkling with erotic energy..." and so one for pages.
Picasso laughed at those who pretend to understand his Art. He used to say "Why are you trying to understand my work? Why don't you try to understand the singing of the birds?"
Years of study to dig a hole in the ground. Well, I guess I have a conservative vision of Art and too high expectations...
