Manolates

Manolates is a small picturesque village located on the north part of Samos.
A bit more than 100 people live there. It was love at first sight...don't ask why. This is Manolates.
The road way up to the village  is worth it by feet or by bike through the forest and then higher up through olive trees plantations. Narrow alleys with little shops selling handmade artcrafts like ceramics, paintings, jewels, sculptures and everywhere flowers.
In the small museum you can buy artcrafts done by the owner but also homemade sweet white wine called Samos doux. I think a part of the spirit of Manolates is catched in that wine.
This is where I could imagine to get old, in Manolates. Collecting olives and doing house wine in winter. Painting every day and learn pottery and sculpture and enjoy the quietness.
But what if I'm too old for that? or not old enough? Well, time will tell it. And maybe one day you'll find me in Manolates.
